The Rundown

Can Bunny rekindle her love after a fatal accident leaves her in the body of a rental bike?

A city park. A free-spirited woman named Bunny and her boyfriend Ed are cycling, tipsy and absorbed in each other, when Bunny has a sudden accident and dies. The crashed bike she was riding glows and pulses like a heartbeat. Bunny has survived, reborn into the machine.

Bunny-bike eventually finds Ed and convinces him she's his reincarnated lover. They reconnect, leading to a confusing, charged night, until Ed's unexpected new fling arrives and Ed chooses to dispose of Bunny-bike.

The rejection and fling send Bunny over the edge.

Who’s Roger Valentine?

Roger Valentine was raised in the small seaside town of Scarborough, spending his adolescence making strange VHS and 8mm shorts.

After graduating with a degree in Animation, and winning a Critics' Choice award in his adopted home of Manchester, he moved to London to work on over the top fashion and lifestyle campaigns, plus the occasional music video.

Roger is currently a fashion video art director, which allowed him to make his debut short Bunny Hop. He wants to continue making strange short films and hopes to collaborate with other like-minded oddballs to create more work that leaves audiences amused and confused.

Why this?

I like the idea of inanimate objects having anthropomorphic personalities, what if someone switched forms into a common piece of street furniture that didn't have an obvious self.

I want to explore how Ed (Bunny's boyfriend) and Bunny deal with that new reality, what level of love and confliction he has and how his mask slips with best intentions and boozy, blurring lines.

Above all that, I wanted to create an absurdist, fun piece of escapism that's unexpected, entertaining and sticks with you, maybe asking questions about our contemporary lives. Visually and narratively speaking it's a tribute to my love of oddball Troma films, 70's-80's b-movie horror, sci-fi and body-swap films: The Fly, Short Circuit, Big, Quantum Leap, Acid House, Demons, Little Shop of Horrors and The Substance.
